Ganjo Lama was a nineteen year old Gurkha fighting in Burma in 1944. On June 12, his company was fighting off a vicious Japanese attack when it came under machine gun fire.

Lama disregarded his own safety and rushed forward with his PIAT anti-tank gun. Crawling undetected to within thirty yards of the Japanese, he knocked out two enemy tanks. Though wounded himself, Lama then engaged the Japanese infantry, stopping their attack.
